Ranchi, May 16: A total of 142 female hockey players from different blocks of Simdega ranging from 11 to 14 years have been selected during the selection program held by Hockey Simdega.
The players were teamed together and tested for 4 hours. Initially, 60 players out of 142 were selected after which 32 players out of 60 were shortlisted.
The 20 selected players will be given an opportunity to play in the trials of sports training centers running outside the district. The reason behind keeping the trial was that those players who cannot travel to Ranchi can participate in this trial.
Hockey Simdega President Manoj Konbegi said that this is an initiative which has been started keeping the players from the villages.
“There are many players from the village who cannot afford to travel to Ranchi for the selection trials. These selection programmes will help those players who do not have a good financial condition in achieving their dreams,” said the president.
