Bhopal: A grand mass wedding ceremony was held at Bageshwar Dham in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, on Wednesday, where 251 couples were united in matrimony in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu, Governor Mangubhai Patel, and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. CM Yadav announced a gift of ₹51,000 for each newlywed couple and congratulated them, saying that they have become the embodiment of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri.
CM Lauds Peethadhishwar Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav praised Peethadhishwar Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri for organizing this grand event. He emphasized that the ceremony broke caste barriers and promoted social harmony in the presence of both government officials and spiritual leaders. He further stated that Shastri ji’s initiative promotes Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family) and the welfare of all. Under the Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana, the state government will provide ₹51,000 to each newlywed couple.
President Murmu Blesses Newlyweds
President Droupadi Murmu blessed the newlyweds, wishing them a happy and prosperous married life. Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri presented her with a Hanuman Yantra as a token of respect. During the event, Shastri ji suggested that funds stored in India’s temples should be used for the welfare of daughters, ensuring they receive a dignified future. He further expressed that brides should feel proud to say that the President of India attended their wedding.
The event witnessed the presence of many prominent figures, including Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam, cricketers Virender Sehwag, Robin Uthappa, RP Singh, actor Puneet Vashisht, and wrestling legend The Great Khali.
President and CM Visit Balaji Temple
During her visit to Bageshwar Dham, President Murmu also offered prayers at Baba Balaji Mandir. CM Mohan Yadav, in a social media post, stated that her visit is a matter of pride for Madhya Pradesh and will further strengthen the state’s spiritual, cultural, and industrial growth.
