Ranchi, April 6: The Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), which has been carrying out the infrastructure development and pipeline work since 2018 in Ranchi, has currently covered 33,000 households in Ranchi.
Vishal Singhal, General Manager (CGD-Projects) speaking to Lagatar24.com said that the work is in progress along with infrastructural developments.
“At the moment, we have successfully covered around 33,000 households in Ranchi with direct gas supply. The work is in progress and we are expecting to cover around 50,000 households till 2024,” he said.
In Jharkhand, around 18.9% households use clean energy such as LPG and electric kitchen appliances, whereas 81% are still dependent on wood, coal and cow dung cakes for fuel in kitchens.
Shiv Dixit, CGD Marketing Head at GAIL, Ranchi has suggested that with the rise in petrol and diesel prices, people should opt for CNG as it is cheaper and also easily available.
“The current price of petrol is Rs. 109 and is expected to reach its targeted figure of Rs. 126 soon. The price of CNG is approximately 30 to 40 rupees cheaper than the conventional fuels. People should switch to CNG as it is less harmful to the environment as well,” he added.
However, the infrastructural development and pipeline works are still being carried out in various parts of the city and the officials believe that the work will be completed soon.
