New Delhi, Nov 22: A fire at a plant in central China on Monday resulted in the death of 36 individuals, according to Chinese official media. This is the latest in a line of deadly industrial catastrophes to strike the nation in recent years.

According to the reports of State broadcaster CCTV, two people remain missing and two others were being treated for minor injuries following the blaze at the factory in Anyang, Henan province.

Unknown numbers of individuals have been held by police in connection with the incident, which took firefighters almost seven hours to put out, according to CCTV.

Numerous industrial mishaps in China in recent years have resulted in scores of fatalities, prompting worries about public safety. A chemical warehouse in the northern port city of Tianjin saw a series of explosions in 2015 that resulted in at least 173 fatalities.

In a strong explosion that occurred at a restaurant in the northeastern city of Shenyang in October of last year, at least three people were killed and more than 30 others were hurt. A residential and commercial structure with mixed uses is where the gas explosion happened.
