Ranchi, Jan.28: Four agitating contractual paramedics were admitted at Sadar Hospital after their health deteriorated on the seventh day of their hunger strike.
Those admitted include Naveen Ranjan (Hazaribagh), Veena Kumar (Ranchi), Nandini Kumari (Jamtara) and Anita Kumar (Jamtada). Ranjan has high BP level while Veena, who is state secretary of Jharkhand Rajya NRHM, GNM, ANM Karmachari Sangh, and Nandini had low oxygen level. Anita had a high fever.
The Secretary of State Anubandhit Para Chikitsakarmi Sangh, Naveen Gupta, informed this saying with the hospitalisation of four, number of paramedics sitting on hunger strike reduced to 17 from 21.
“The government is so reluctant to turn up for dialogue that it did not spare even an ambulance to send our colleagues to hospital. We have to send two of the four of our colleagues on auto rickshaws as the government showed reluctance in sending ambulances,” Gupta said.
Meanwhile, political party leaders have started extending their moral support to the agitating paramedics. Among those noticed at the agitation venue near the Raj Bhawan was Congress legislator Irfan Ansari. Earlier, BJP Rajya Sabha Member Deepak Prakash, BJP legislators Samri Lal and C.P.Singh were also noticed at the venue. Apart from this, AITUC leader Subhendu Sen and Ajsu legislator Kushwaha Shivpujan Mehta were also noticed extending their support to agitating para-medics.
Paramedics are agitating for the last 12 days for their service regularisation and other allied demands. For the last seven days, they are on hunger strike.
Meanwhile, a delegation of striking paramedics under the leadership of Jharkhand Rajya NRHM, ANM, GNM Anubandh Karmachari Sangh Meera Kumar today met Education Minister Jagarnath Mahto. Mahto gave them positive assurances.
