Daltonganj, October 31: A case of medical goof up occurred at the community health centre at Paton in Palamu on Saturday. The third dose of vaccine was administered to a man in place of first anti dog bite.
Raju Singh, 51year tractor driver of village Naudeeha under the Paton block had come to the community health centre of Paton on Saturday to take anti rabies shot but got the Covishield vaccine instead of the anti rabies shot. The oversaturated vaccinated man is said to be doing fine said sources.
Tractor owner Pappu Singh whose tractor Raju Singh drives has told that Raju Singh had already taken two covid shots in the past but on Saturday again he got his third dose of the covid vaccine.
Mithilesh Singh of village Golna under the same Paton block said the driver Raju is fine and fit after 24 hours of his third covid vaccine.
Dr Amit Azad medical officer in charge of the Paton community health centre said “Raju Singh, 51, had had his OPD ticket having registration number 8107 dated 30.10.2021.”
Azad said “dog bite was clearly written in the OPD ticket of Raju Singh as his main complaint but this man got in the queue of people waiting for the covid vaccination and did not show his OPD ticket nor did he say he had come for anti dog bite injection.
Sources said the previous record of Raju Singh’s taking two doses of the vaccine could not be found out by the vaccination desk at Paton community health centre.
Interestingly, Raju Singh put up his Aadhaar card at the vaccination centre which too did not help the vaccine desk to find out if he was already a beneficiary of two doses of the covid vaccine.
Commenting upon this ‘mess’ civil surgeon Palamu Anil Kumar said to have more and more number of people to get vaccine coverage, our teams conduct vaccinations offline too by noting down the Aadhaar card number, cell phone number etc. and where there is a mismatch of the cell phone numbers such a mess is but inevitable.
On being asked that a vaccinator in duty is bound to ask a person if the vaccine that he is going to have is his first dose or second dose but here it appears it has not been asked to which civil surgeon Palamu Anil Kumar said this is what is to be investigated properly.
Again queried that a vaccinator is to invariably ask a beneficiary if he is a Covishield or Covaxin beneficiary and here in the case of Raju Singh such query, it appears, was not made as otherwise this third dose of vaccine would not have been administered to Raju Singh. In response to this, civil surgeon said he has asked the medical officer in charge of the community health centre Dr Azad to delve into the issue and take necessary steps to preempt any repeat of this kind of faux pas.
