7 persons going from Ranchi to Kaimur killed in road mishap

Ranchi: Seven persons of a family died aboard a Scorpio going from Ranchi to Kaimur hit a container parked on the highway on Wednesday morning. Five people were seriously injured.

Three children and two women among the deceased.

The injured were admitted to the hospital where their condition remains critical. There was a total of 12 people in the Scorpio.

The deceased include 18-year-old Tara Kumari, 15-year-old Chandni Kumari, 50-year-old Arvind Sharma, 50-year-old Rajmati Devi, 8-year-old Aditya Kumar, 9-year-old Riya Kumari and 35-year-old Soni Kumari. The injured include Ravi Nandan Priyadarshi, Ritu Sharma, Sudeshwar Sharma, Divya Kumari and Upendra Sharma.

The incident took place on NH 2 near Pakhnari petrol pump in Sivasagar police station area of Sasaram district of Bihar.

The accident happened due to the driver dozing off.

It was learnt that all the people were returning from Ranchi in the Scorpio to their village Kudari (Kaimur).

The vehicle went out of control and rammed into a container parked on the side of the highway when the Scorpio driver had a nap on the way.
