Patna, Oct 28: Intern doctors have closed the OPD of medical colleges of Bihar. Due to this OPD service is disrupted in PMCH of Patna, Mayaganj Hospital in Bhagalpur, SKMCH of Muzaffarpur. There is a rush of patients due to the closure of the registration counter in PMCH.

According to reports, 570 registrations have been done till 10.30 am on Thursday. Since then the OPD has been closed. Anger has increased among the intern doctors over the demand for increase in stipend. The doctors had called for an indefinite strike from Thursday. It is alleged that the government has not increased the stipend for 5 years.

Intern doctors say that there are about 900 intern doctors in Bihar. Dr. Akash Raj, Dr. Anurag, Dr. Abhishek, Dr. Shubham, Dr. Prashant Priyadarshi and other interns at Nalanda Medical College and Hospital, along with other interns say that they have been waiting for the stipend to increase for 5 years.

Notably, the intern doctors had closed the OPD for half an hour on Wednesday. Patients come from far distances for treatment in medical colleges. Hospital Superintendent Dr. Asim Kumar Das said that alternate arrangements are being made. If they do not agree, then we will take help from the police.

The Indian Medical Association has also supported intern doctors. In such a situation, the impact of the strike can be heavy on the health system.

Ajay Kumar of IMA Bihar, says that he is fully supporting the demand of the intern, as it is justified.
