Ranchi, June 2: Shilpi Neha Tirkey, who filed nomination as a Congress party candidate for the Mandar by-poll on Thursday, said that she wants to hit two birds with one stone by winning the election.
Shilpi’s reply came after she was asked in an exclusive interview by lagatar24.com near Raj Bhawan whether she wants to serve the people by winning the election or take revenge from the BJP that paved the path for the ouster of her father Bandhu Tirkey from the state assembly without completing his term.
“Samajh lijiye ek teer se do shikar,” Shilpi said.
On being asked whether her candidature will not give a wrong impression among people as she got the opportunity to contest the election without any effort, she said: ‘No.”
Explaining why she said: “Janta ko seva se matlab Hai, seva kaun Kar raha hai is se nahi (people are concerned about service, who provides the service does not matter to them),” she said adding that such a thought is useless.
On asking whether or not she will face a problem in taking decisions as she does not have any experience in political fields, she said she had grown up in a political atmosphere and she will also learn from her father.
“Ghar mein rajnaitik vatavaran dekhi hoon aur Baba se sikhungi,” Shilpi said.
Earlier, she counted her priority saying she will carry forward the struggle of her father, who always fought for tribals and their land, forest and water. She said she will also work for women’s empowerment by promoting education among them. Apart from this, she will also work for creating job opportunities to root out unemployment.
Born on August 16, 1992, Shilpi has a PG Diploma in Marketing Communication from St Xavier’s College, Mumbai. She did her graduation in Business Administration from Christ University, Bangalore after her intermediate from St Xavier’s School, Doranda in Ranchi. She did her matriculation from Sacred Heart School in Hulhundu.
If she wins the election, she will be the youngest legislator of the state. Earlier, Barkagaon MLA was the youngest legislator in the house. If she wins, she will be the fifth woman MLA from Congress in the house. At present, woman MLAs include Dipika Pandey Singh (Mahagama), Purnima Neeraj Singh (Jharia), Mamta Devi (Ramgarh) and Amba Prasad (Barkagaon).
