Kupwara, June 7: Two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed in early-morning of Tuesday in an security operation in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir, authorities said. They were killed in a encounter between security forces and militants in the early hours of the morning in the Chaktaras Kandi area of the district, according to a tweet from Kashmir Zone Police.
Tufail has been recognised as one of the terrorists. Officials informed him that he was a Pakistani national.
“Two terrorists of proscribed terror outfit LeT including one Pakistani terrorist namely Tufail killed. Search still going on,” the Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.
Another LeT (Lashkar-e-Taiba) terrorist was killed in a confrontation in the Baramulla district’s Sopore town the day before. Hanzalla was a resident of Lahore, according to the sources. Search operation is still going on.
The Jammu and Kashmir police announced on Saturday that a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) ‘commander’ was killed in an overnight confrontation in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Over the last several weeks, there has been an increase in terrorist strikes in Kashmir, with civilians being the target of many of them.
