Daltonganj, June 7: In a hurly-burly incident on Tuesday morning at the Daltonganj circuit house, a wall fan of the room where the RJD supremo Lalu Yadav is staying, suddenly caught fire.
According to sources, the fire was accidental and could be due to some loose connection of the electrical wires.
Sadar SDO Rajesh Kumar Sah said the fire was contained and the damaged wall fan was replaced.
He said RJD supremo was not in his room when this freak incident occurred. The leader was having his breakfast in the dining hall.
The Sadar SDO said the incident was unfortunate but it happened without any loss of anything except for the wall fan. The RJD supremo did not ask for a change of room.
Sources said officials here are taking care of the conveniences of the leader as the state cabinet coordination committee has asked for it.
Lalu Yadav reached Daltonganj only on Monday evening. He is to appear in the court of law on Wednesday, June 8 in connection with a 2009 case of the violation of the model code of conduct, according to the Jharkhand state RJD president Sanjay Kumar Singh Yadav.
In 2009, Lalu Yadav had reached Daltonganj for a poll campaign programme at the campus of the Gobind high school at Garhwa. There was a tumultuous crowd then as people were perching on the branches of the trees and rooftops.
Sanjay said the pilot of the chopper decided not to land the chopper on the identified helipad as then it could have caused serious safety issues to the crowd.
The chopper was landed in the nearby open field then.
Sanjay said the landing was construed as a violation of the model code of conduct then while the fact of the matter was that the diversion from the helipad to the open field was for the safety of the crowd of people and the aircraft as well.
