New Delhi, June 10: With 7,584 new Covid cases reported on a daily basis for the first time in almost three months, India has seen its largest daily increase in over three months as the country experiences a new surge in numerous areas. During the same time period, 24 deaths were reported, bringing the total number of deaths to 5,24,747.
Maharashtra with the most total cases, witnessed a spike of 2,813 cases in just 24 hours, the most of any state. Kerala was the next state to report 2,193 cases. Since the beginning of the epidemic, Maharashtra has recorded nearly 79 lakh cases, while Kerala has recorded 65 lakh infections.
While Karnataka had 471 new Covid infections, Delhi had 622 new cases. The daily Covid-19 infection rate in India has risen dramatically, pushing state governments and aviation authorities to reinstate strict face mask regulations. As most of the reported cases are mild, hospitalizations have remained low thus far.
So far, India has registered 4,32,05,106 instances of Covid, making it the country with the most overall cases after the United States.
According to the ministry’s recent health bulletin, the country’s active caseload increased by 3,769. It presently accounts for 0.08 percent of the total. The recovery rate was recorded as 98.70 percent. According to government statistics, 42,644,092 persons have recovered from the virus thus far. The case fatality rate is 1.21 percent. The daily positivity rate was 2.26 percent, with the weekly positivity rate being 1.50 percent.
According to a Bloomberg estimate, around 69 percent of India’s 1.4 billion people have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccination. 3%, on the other hand, have received a booster dose.
