Dhanbad, June 16: BIT Sindri is going to introduce a cyber defense skill training and education course from the current academic session 2022-23 in wake of the rising demand for knowledge against cybercrimes.
In this regard, BIT Sindri and Cyber Vidyapeeth Foundation on Thursday signed an MoU for the promotion of cyber defense education, training, research, skill and knowledge.
Dr Ghanshyam, the chairman of BIT Sindri Career Development Centre (CDC), said that the purpose of this MoU is to outline how BIT Sindri and Cyber Vidyapeeth will work together to maximize the benefits from their mutual interests and jointly go to market strategy.
He said that it is a joint effort of Director Dr DK Singh and Cyber Vidyapeeth chairman, who is an alumnus of BIT, Shashank S Garuryar.
BIT Sindri is the second institution in the state after IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) to launch cyber education.
BIT Sindri Director Dr DK Singh while shedding light on the importance of cyber education said that India has to play a leadership role in cyber defense and needs to tap the fullest potential of young students to guide, mentor and educate them in this skill in the quickest possible time. He hoped that Cyber Vidyapeeth will achieve the mission by preparing a pool of a million Cyber Rakshak in the next 5 Years.
Cyber Vidyapeeth Foundation is an online educational entity with deep expertise in cyber offense and defense education, training, and strategic consulting.
Chairman of Cyber Vidyapeeth Shashank S Garuryar said that if India wants to bring true cyber resilience, it needs to steer through a journey of talent creation in cyber engineering. A quality Cyber Rakshak talent pool can bridge the talent gap and support the world economy. In turn, Indians can garner USD 100 billion in the next 10 years.
Chief Mentor of Cyber Vidyapeeth Balaji Venketeshwar mentioned that cyber defence engineering talent is key to the nation’s safety. India needs 1 million trained Cyber Rakshak right away and it will require1.5 million Cyber Rakshak by 2025. On other hand, the world needs around 7 million Cyber Rakshak. “There are around 3.1 million unfilled cyber security jobs worldwide today,” he said.
