New Delhi, June 17: FIFA announced the 16 host cities for the first edition of football’s showcase, which will include 48 teams, on Friday, marking a big step forward on the road to the FIFA World Cup 2026.
For the first time since 1994, FIFA’s flagship tournament will return to the Americas. The World Cup will be shared for the first time by three separate countries.
The 16 host cities for the 23rd FIFA World Cup are Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Guadalajara, Houston, Kansas, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Miami, Monterrey, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, Toronto, and Vancouver.

Mexico and the United States will host the showpiece event after a 40-year and 32-year hiatus, respectively, while Canada will host it for the first time. After a three-decade hiatus, the football spectacle returns to North America.
Estadio Azteca, MetLife Stadium, AT&T Stadium, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and Levi’s Stadium are just a few of the historic and gorgeous stadiums from the North American continent that will host the tournament.
The 23rd edition will witness an increase in the number of teams fighting for the top prize, with a total of 60 matches scheduled.
During a final vote at the 68th FIFA Congress in Moscow, the United 2026 bid defeated a rival bid from Morocco to win the rights.
