Ranchi, June 22: Shop owners on the Main Road of Jharkhand’s capital, as well as security officers, school students, and others, were seen heaving sighs of relief a day after the district government lifted prohibitory orders.

Mohammed Akram, the owner of a betel kiosk in front of Anjuman Plaza, agreed with the observation. “Around 20 consumers visited my shop today, compared to only two the day before.” “People came out without fear after section 144 of the Cr.PC was imposed in the localities around Main Road,” Akram stated.

Niwaran Das, a cobbler near Akram’s business, also seemed pleased. He agreed with Akram.

“It has been tough to make a single penny since the June 10 violence because my customers preferred to stay at home owing to prohibitory orders.” Customers have begun to arrive as of today,” said Das, who travels to Main Road from Chutia.

When asked about continuing his business once the prohibitory orders were lifted, Mohammed Shahwaz, who was selling mangoes along the bylane connecting Main Road and Ranchi Lake, provided a calculated response.

“Jo Mukaddar Mein Hai Wahi Hoga (things happen depending on your luck),” Shahwaz explained. Later, he began praising his mango, claiming that the company’s operations were untouched by any government action. He claimed to have sold more mangoes the day before.

“I must have sold mangoes to at least 20 people, but just about five people showed up today.” People now prefer to go to other shops since the shops across the Main Road opened,” Shahwaz stated.

Security personnel assigned to maintain law and order, like business owners, breathed a sigh of relief. They were seen talking to their colleagues at their deputation location, armed with fire weapons.

“May there be no further commotion in the city because I have applied for leave,” a JAP-7 jawan stationed near Ranchi Lake was overheard saying.

While heading back to their houses from school, schoolchildren were seen enjoying a light moment. Traffic congestion on the Harmu bypass road in the afternoon indicated that a large number of people had gathered on the road.
