New Delhi, June 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Germany on June 26–27 as a special guest at the G7 Summit, before travelling to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on his way back to hold meetings with the top leadership of the country, the external affairs ministry said on Wednesday.
On the invitation of Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the prime minister will travel to Schloss Elmau, a resort in Germany, for the G7 Summit. The environment, energy, climate, food security, health, gender equality, and democracy will be the topics of his two sessions, according to the ministry.
In an effort to deepen international cooperation on these crucial concerns, nations including Indonesia, South Africa, Argentina, and Senegal have also been invited to the summit of the group of seven advanced economies, according to the MEA.
Modi will meet privately with the leaders of several of the participating nations on the sidelines of the summit.
“The invitation to the G7 Summit is in keeping with the tradition of strong and close partnership and high-level political contacts between India and Germany,” the ministry said.
For the India-Germany intergovernmental dialogues, Modi last travelled to Germany in May 2022 along with important members of the Union cabinet.
