Ranchi, June 23: The Ranchi District Bar Association Building (RDBA) is frequently being targeted by thieves.
Vikrant Kumar, an advocate, alerted the Ranchi District Bar Association (RDBA) secretary of this in a letter. The correspondence was sent on June 22.
Through his letter, Kumar alerted the secretary to the loss of his helmet, claiming that he had left it at the table but discovered it missing after he returned from normal court.
An advocate further supported the position.
People who have committed various forms of crime frequently appear in civil court to take part in judicial processes. Advocates can sometimes become their victims. Additionally, activists’ bikes and helmets are stolen. I recall that at least three two-wheelers were taken from the court grounds, the lawyer recalled.
According to a lawyer, recovering lost keys or purses is simple, but recovering stolen helmets and two-wheelers is more challenging.
Sanjay Vidrohi, the general secretary of the RDBA, was contacted for his opinion. He acknowledged the issue of theft and stated that he intended to increase electronic surveillance of the court complex.
“Previously, up to 36 CCTV cameras were installed for electronic surveillance, but they have all since stopped working. Also absent is the digital video recorder (DVR). For adequate electronic surveillance of the RDBA building and its surrounding region, we have now decided to install extra CCTV cameras. The quotation has been requested, and I’m hoping things will get better. I can see the issue because an FIR about the theft of Rs 19 lakh from RDBA is also waiting at the Kotwali police station, and its investigation has been hampered by the absence of electronic surveillance gear,” Vidrohi added.
General Secretary Vidrohi has stated that he is concerned about a theft attempt at the Bhagat Law Book that has also come to his attention.
