Ranchi, June 27: The 30-year-old Shilpi Neha Tirkey, a candidate for the Congress who won the Mandar election and became the youngest member of the Jharkhand assembly, sees her victory as retaliation for the injustice done to her father Bandhu Tirkey and declares that she will continue to campaign to support her party in the 2024 assembly election.

Tirkey spoke to Lagatar24.com in a room at the Congress party headquarters as her father, JPCC Executive President Bandhu Tirkey, and JPCC President Rajesh Thakur had a serious political debate in front of other prominent congress party leaders.

“The Mandar people have responded appropriately by choosing me to win the assembly election. They chose me, sending a clear message against injustice done to my father, knowing well that I am Bandhu’s daughter,” said Shilpi, a postgraduate marketing commission student from St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai.

“However, I won’t stop there. I need to get ready for the next assembly election, which is set for 2.5 years from now,” she added.

The upcoming election is more crucial, according to Shilpi, who graduated from Christ College in Bangalore with a degree in business management.

She expressed gratitude to her father for seeing potential in her and giving her the chance to create possibility in the face of adversity while also expressing her joy at the success.

She said with a smile on her face, “Baba Ne Mere Par Bharosa Kiya Yah Mere Liye Khushi Ki Baat Hai.”

Shilpi vowed to keep her word to her father, who had expressed trust in her, and promised to fight standing beside her.

Shilpa declared, “I will not only be struggling on the floor of the house for the fulfilment of my father’s dream, but also on the road. Kewal sadan hi mein hi unke sapno ko pura karne ke liye hi awaz nahi uthaungi balki nahi main sadak par bhi unka saath doongi.

Asked about her priorities Shilpi, who did her schooling from Sacred Heart School in Hulhundu, discussed a local issue.

“Will address the water and electricity issues as well as properly attend to the government programmes whose implementation was hampered by Covid, ” she promised.

She stated that she would follow in her father’s footsteps when it came to giving assembly attendees their due, saying, “Khestra ki janta ko parivar ke sadasya samjhoongi aur kishi tarah ke shishtachare mein rajnit ko aade nahi aane doongi (Will treat people of my constituency as family members and will not allow politics to come in the way.)

When asked if she had any complaints from the election campaign, she replied that her father had given her “zero briefing.”

“During the election, my father did not brief me, which caused me difficulties in many places. He used to treat my complaints to him about it as training,” Shilpi recalled.
