New Delhi, June 30: Alt News co-founder Mohd Zubair on Thursday moved Delhi High Court challenging the police remand granted by Patiala House Court to the Delhi Police Special Cell. His lawyer mentioned the matter before Delhi HC’s vacation bench today.
The mentioning was allowed and the matter will be heard tomorrow.
Notably, the Delhi Police on Tuesday was given four-day custody of Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair. He was arrested on Monday for allegedly hurting religious sentiments and promoting enmity. He was produced before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Patiala House Court after expiry of his one-day custodial interrogation. According to the Delhi Police First Information Report (FIR), Zubair was detained for a 2018 tweet that was ‘extremely offensive and more than sufficient to provoke feelings of hatred’ among people.
