Mumbai, July 2: Eknath Shinde, the newly appointed Maharashtra Chief Minister, has been removed by Uddhav Thackeray from his position as Shiv Sena leader within the party.
Thackeray said that Shinde had been engaging in “anti-party actions” and had voluntarily given up his membership.
In the Supreme Court, the Shinde faction claimed to be the genuine Shiv Sena. After the Supreme Court declined to stay Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari’s order to postpone the trust vote, Uddhav Thackeray resigned as chief minister on Wednesday night.
Just 24 hours after the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government collapsed, Eknath Shinde was sworn in as the 20th chief minister of Maharashtra on Thursday, while BJP veteran Devendra Fadnavis took the oath to serve as deputy chief minister.
