Ranchi, July 8: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday asked the 252 newly-appointed officers for various state services to take a resolution of taking Jharkhand above the BPL category while distributing the appointment letters among them at the Dr Ram Dayal Munda Kala Bhawan in Khelgaon.

“Hum logon mein kuch madhyam vargiya hai magar pura rajya BPL hai. Isliye aaj sankalp lene ka din hai ki kaise ise BPL se upar le jayein. Yah chunauti bhi hai (Some of us come from the middle class but the entire state is backward. It is under the BPL category. So, today is the day of taking a resolution to take it above the BPL category. This is a challenge too),” CM Soren said.

Soren asked them to take care of the state promising that he will take their care.

“Aap sab ka hum khyal rakhenge. Aap hamare rajya ka khyal rakhen,” he said.

Soren on the occasion said that out of the total 252 officers, as many as 32 come from BPL and asked all to take inspiration from them who created possibilities in the face of challenges.

All the 252 officers were recruited on the recommendations of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), which organised the competitive examination for recruitment.

CM Soren asked the newly recruited officers to learn to handle people’s representatives carefully as it will remain a challenge for them. Explaining the challenge, he said people representatives get the work done by their verbal order or request and officers are expected to follow their instructions.

The CM on the occasion also counted the achievements of his government saying it formulated the JPSC recruitment rule, appointed staff in the Forensic Science Laboratory, reduced the fee for filling JPSC form, paved the path for the declaration of JPSC result in 250 days unlike the previous practice of its release in 1000 days, ensured the participation of four times more candidate for JPSC examination.

Those present on the occasion included his cabinet colleague Badal Patralekh, Satyanand Bhokta, and Jagannath Mahto besides chief secretary in-charge A K Singh, DGP Neeraj Sinha besides other bureaucrats.
