IAOH celebrates Occupational Health Day in Dhanbad

Dhanbad, July 9: Indian Association of Occupational Health (IAOH) Coal Fields Branch celebrated National Occupational Health Day on Saturday at the Dhanbad club.

Dr (Prof) Jyoti Ranjan Prasad, principal of Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH), and Dr Shyam Kishore Kant, civil surgeon (CS), were the chief guests on the occasion and jointly inaugurated the programme.

Dr A K Singh, president of the association, on the occasion shed light on the role of the association in creating awareness among the workers and doctors about occupational injuries.

“Dhanbad is the hub of mines industry. IAOH organizes seminars and training for doctors every year on this occasion on a priority basis for the awareness of working-class as well as medicos so that early detection of occupational diseases could be done,” said Dr Singh.

Dr A K Chakraborty, secretary of the association, spoke about the importance and requirement of occupational health services for the protection of workers from health hazards in their workplace, preventing illness and promoting good health and well-being.

Senior consultant ophthalmologist of Dhanbad Dr B N Gupta spoke in detail about different eye problems faced by the workers in their working field. He also suggested measures for preventing the diseases and awareness. Dr Anshul Kumar, while addressing the seminar, shed light on different Orthopaedic problems faced by the workers.
