Ranchi, July 14: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) today declared support to BJP presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu during the presidential election scheduled on July 18.
Party president Shibu Soren writing a letter to his party MLAs and MPs has asked to vote in favour of Murmu saying it was for the first time after independence when a tribal woman is going to get pride of being president of India.
Soren, through the letter informed the party legislators and parliamentarians saying that the party has taken the decision after proper consideration.
The development took place a few days after Murmu met Soren and asked him to extend his support to him. During the meeting it had become almost clear that the party would support Murmu but an official declaration was awaited.
Finally, on the first day of the holy month of Shravan official declaration came.
