CONRAD DIAS

Ranchi, July 16: The state-run Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) has been selected by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to be the main coordinating centre for national-level research works.

The director of RIMS Dr Kameshwar Prasad said that a total of 20 medical institutes across the country will take part in this national-level research work and will include institutes such as AIIMS New Delhi.

“RIMS will become the first medical institute in the country to perform such a national-level workshop on research and training. The research will play a leading role to develop new techniques which can help patients suffering from paralysis,” he said.

Various parameters of paralysis patients such as fever, blood pressure, sugar level etc. will be monitored and research will be done accordingly. The director added that the outcome of the research will be handed over to ICMR and various other research journals will be published accordingly.

Some of the prominent centres for the research across the country will be AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMS Rohtak, NIMHANS Delhi and others from Chennai and Manipal.
