Ranchi, July 18: Voting for the presidential election at Jharkhand assembly is going smoothly.
So far the majority of BJP and Congress legislators have voted. From the JMM, except Jagarnath Mahto none could be visible.
Among the independents, Amit Mahto and Kamlesh Singh voted. They were noticed accompanying the BJP legislators while going to vote.
Words coming from mouths of tribal legislators from the Congress party suggest they have not defied party diktat.
“I am here as a Congress legislator. The party has given me the opportunity to become minister,” said finance minister Rameshwar Oraon. Shilpi Neha Tirkey and Rajesh Kacchap echoed Oraon.
Tirkey was happy to get the opportunity to participate in the presidential election hardly 15 days after she was administered the oath as legislator by the assembly speaker.
The voting started at 10am and will continue till 5pm today. There are as many as 80 voters in the State Assembly.
The BJP legislators were noticed confident about the victory of their candidate after they came out exercising their franchise.
