Ramgarh, July 18: Kuju police have seized a 10-wheeler truck that was laden with seven quintals of ganja in 23 sacks.
Two people have been taken into custody and forwarded to judicial custody after legal action.
Ramgarh SP Piyush Pandey said, “Based on secret information, after conducting a raid near Hesagarha (Ramgarh), NH 33 of Mandu police station area, the police stopped a 10-wheeler truck. About seven quintals of ganja were found in 23 sacks on the truck. The police confiscated the truck taking the driver and the helper of the truck into custody.”
The SP further said that the truck was going from Jamshedpur to Barhi. The estimated market value of the seized ganja is said to be around Rs one crore.
Among the arrested accused, truck driver Shankar Ramashyari (28 years) resident of village Makathai police station Sampakata, district Kokrajar (Assam) and helper Rantu Namata (30 years) resident of village Mishripada, police station Chakulia, district Jamshedpur.
SP Piyush Pandey said that the police will take strict action against drug traffickers. The seized Ganja will be sent for forensic examination. Police are busy arresting the people involved in this illegal business.
