New Delhi, July 19: The AIADMK declared on Tuesday that former chief minister O Panneerselvam (OPS), who was expelled from the party a few days ago, had been relieved of his duties as deputy floor leader in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.

According to the temporary general secretary of the party, Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS), former minister RB Udhayakumar was unanimously chosen to serve as the AIADMK’s deputy leader in the Assembly.

Udhayakumar, who represents the Tirumangalam Assembly constituency, was named the party’s deputy leader at a gathering of its MLAs on July 17, according to a party release from Palaniswami.

He added that another former minister, Agri S S Krishnamurthy, has been chosen to serve as the party’s deputy secretary.

On July 11, Panneerselvam was kicked out of the party, and court proceedings about this are ongoing.
