Ramgarh, July 20: A team of 32 trainees of Deputy Directors of Mines Safety (DDMS), Ranchi Region visited Tata Steel’s West Bokaro Division as part of an induction visit to mining locations.

The visit was coordinated by Aftab Ahmed, Director of Mines Safety, Ranchi Region and Mrinal Bhadra, Chief, Quarry SE, West Bokaro Division, Tata Steel.

Ahmed said he was happy to see the preparedness and extended his gratitude to West Bokaro Division for organising the visit in a short span of time.

Information on Safety, Production, Environment, and Sustainability were shared through a presentation at Quarry SE Conference Room. Anurag Dixit, General Manager, West Bokaro Division, Tata Steel briefed the team about various initiatives taken towards Diversity and Inclusion including the onboarding of women and transgenders as HEMM operators.

The team visited Quarry AB to see Highwall Miner (equipment which extracts coal locked in high walls) in operation. The DGMS officials closely monitored the machine while it was in operation and inquired about different safety features installed in the machine. The team appreciated the new initiatives taken by the West Bokaro Division not only toward an eco-friendly and efficient method of coal extraction but also the safety standards implemented during the extraction of coal.
