Dhanbad: Congress agitators remove woman forcefully to stage dharna at same spot

The woman had been sitting on dharna at Randhir Verma Chowk since June 8

Dhanbad, July 22: The Congress activists, in presence of state-working president Jaleswar Mahto and district president Brijendra Prasad Singh, pushed away a woman from the road and tore up her posters to grab the dharna spot at Randhir Verma Chowk near Collectorate on Friday.

The woman identified as Jyoti Dutta had been sitting on Dharna at Randhir Verma Chowk since June 8 to seek justice.

Congress activists under senior leaders reached Randhir Verma Chowk to stage a dharna against ED questioning party national president Sonia Gandhi. Having seen the woman sitting on the dharna spot, some of the workers first asked her to leave. When she refused, the workers allegedly tore her posters and banner. As she protested, they pushed her on road.

The woman reportedly got an injury on the head and became senseless. The police deployed on the spot dialled 108 to get her admitted to the hospital. 

However, the woman came back to her senses soon and refused to go. She protested her forceful eviction and alleged that Congress workers and police dragged her on road to sideline her from the dharna spot.

A high voltage drama appeared at Randhir Verma Chowk Dharna spot. However senior police officials pacified her to vacate the spot so that  Congress leaders could stage a dharna.

Congress district president Brajendra Prasad Singh denied the allegation of the woman and said that  neither any worker tore up the posters, banners nor dragged her. “She was enacting drama to get  media attention,” he said.

Police official of Dhanbad police station said that no complaint has been lodged by the woman in this regard.

 Jyoti Dutta, the resident of Manaitand area of the coal city has been sitting on Dharna at Randhir Verma Chowk Since June 8 seeking justice against her step father who allegedly tried to kill her owing to property dispute.

She claimed that despite lodging a complaint at Dhansar police station and Dhanbad sadar police station, no action was taken. So finally she sat on indefinite Dharna to get justice.
