Daltonganj, July 28: 23 cops including Chhatarpur SDPO Ajay Kumar, officer in charge of the Chhatarpur police station Shekhar Kumar and others today donated 23 units of blood in the blood donation camp held at the sub-divisional hospital Chhatarpur.
The blood donation camp was organised at the behest of the Palamu SP Chandan Kumar Sinha who has himself donated blood twice to persons in critical condition of their health here in Daltonganj. The camp lasted for a little over 150 minutes. The donors were treated with instant calorie intake.
Sources said people in need of blood at night call the SP urging him to arrange blood for their near and dear ones battling in the hospital. The top cop then asks his police line officials for willful blood donation and thus it is made available to the caller within hours.
SP Chandan Kumar Sinha is known in the MMCH arena as a ‘major blood provider through the cops.’
SDPO Ajay Kumar said 8 cops of Chhatarpur police station, 8 cops, including him, of the SDPO office, 3 of Hariharganj police station, 3 of the Naudiha Bazar police station and one of the Pathra picket donated blood.
Sources said the number of units of blood collected today was just 23 but a positive beginning has started in the constabulary of this police subdivision Chhatarpur.
However, it was not an easy task to ready cops to donate blood in the month of Sawan.
SDPO Ajay Kumar said he did his motivational talk on the value of donating blood and that found a positive note among the constabulary. “Our number of units collected ought to have been better adding it is always next camp and we will do better,” he said.
The SDPO agreed it would have been more encouraging if one or two of lady cops had donated blood as then it would have sent a favourable message among the women and eligible girls, not to shy blood donation.
