Ranchi, Aug1: Intervening during the discussion on drought in the Jharkhand Assembly on Monday, MLA Saryu Roy raised the demand for waiving off the loan of farmers who had become NPA accounts of farmers holding Kisan Credit Card and wanted to know how many farmers in the state have had KCC accounts as NPAs.
Along with this, Roy asked to pay the dues of those farmers who have sold their paddy this year to the government.
In reply, Agriculture Minister Badal Patralekh did not say how much the KCC loan account of the farmers is NPA but assured that gradually the loan of all farmers’ KCC NPA account would be waived off. For this, a committee has been formed, whose chairman is the minister himself.
Roy on the occasion informed the minister regarding the problem of farmers selling paddy to the government. The minister said that Tushar Kant Kavi, a progressive farmer from Sinni in Seraikela Kharsawan district, sold paddy to the government this year but he did not get his payment so far.
He said when payment was not made, the farmer came to him. After his interference, he got half payment but the remaining half has not been paid yet. Informing this, Roy asked the minister to ensure payment to the farmer in the wake of the drought.
The minister assured that he would get the payment done from the concerned department.
