Ranchi/Delhi: The Supreme Court today dismissed the special leave petition (SLP) filed for quashing the Jharkhand High Court order given in the matter of appointment process of teachers in 13 scheduled districts of Jharkhand.

A division bench comprising M.R.Shah and Justice B.V. Nagratna, while dismissing the SLP, ordered to preserve the appointment made under the 2016 employment policy and issue a new merit list.

On May 22, the Supreme Court had reserved its decision in the matter.

The case arose after the state government under its employment policy debarred candidates of non-scheduled districts of the state to apply for jobs in scheduled districts while candidates of scheduled districts were allowed to apply for jobs in any district and the matter reached before the Jharkhand High Court. A constitution bench of three judges declared the policy wrong.

The Jharkhand High Court order was challenged in the Supreme Court by the people appointed as per the earlier policy.
