Ramgarh police seize huge cache of illicit liquor, arrest two

Ramgarh, Aug 2: The Ramgarh police seized a huge cache of liquor after receiving a tip-off on Monday.

Ramgarh SDPO Kishore Rajak, in a press conference on Tuesday, said, “Ramgarh SP Piyush Pandey received information about the illicit liquor transportation on August 1 at around 6 pm. The illegal liquor was on its way to Hazaribagh from Ranchi. He directed me to form a team immediately.”

“I formed a team including Inspector Sanjay Kumar Gupta, Mandu Zone, Naveen Kumar, Police Station-in-Charge Mandu, Santosh Gupta and Mandu Police Reserve, to take necessary action in this regard. We then conducted an intensive vehicle checking campaign near the Beesmile Fourlane under Mandu police station,” the SDPO added.

“A pickup van coming from Ranchi, loaded with 10 boxes Haywards 5000 Beer and 45 boxes of Kingfisher Premium Strong Beer, was found during the campaign. A Samsung smartphone and a Redmi smartphone have also been seized by us,” the SDPO further added.

A total of 640 bottles of illicit beer were confiscated by the police. They also arrested two persons who were in the pickup van with the boxes.

They have been identified as Subodh Kumar (25), a resident of Kashikeyal, Chatra and Ankit Kumar (22), a resident of Aurugeruva, Chatra.

An FIR has also been lodged against the pickup van’s owner Rambalak Sao, a resident of Aurugeruwa, Chatra and liquor mafia Mukesh Koiri, a resident of Dobhi in Gaya, Bihar.
