Jamshedpur, Aug 6: IMD’s Ranchi weather office issued a forecast of light rain at many places across Jharkhand today.
Weathermen said almost all the districts would witness light rain today while a few isolated pockets were expected to experience moderate to heavy rain.
Today’s satellite picture suggested that a cyclonic circulation was hovering over Jharkhand and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal at 3.1 km above the mean sea level.
A low-pressure area is also expected to form over the Bay of Bengal around August 7.
The monsoon trough was today passing through Digha in neighbouring West Bengal extending up to 0.9 Km above the mean sea level.
The local forecast for Ranchi suggested one or two spells of rain or thundershowers.
Against a normal of 559.8 mm, the state has so far received rainfall of around 300 mm, resulting in a deficit of 46 per cent.
