Ranchi, Aug.12: The Jharkhand High Court on Friday sought a reply from the Home Secretary Rajeev Arun Ekka and DGP Niraj Sinha in the matter of violence that erupted during a procession in Ranchi to protest against Nupur Sharma’s comment on Prophet Mohammed.

The development took place after a division bench comprising Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice S N Prasad observed that the state is not taking proper interest in the investigation of the case.

The court observed that the CCTV footage collected after the incident was not verified so far and when the matter was under investigation by an SIT, the state handed the case to CID and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) was removed during the investigation.

Pankaj Yadav has filed the FIR demanding a proper probe in the matter after he observed the violence was the result of a high-level conspiracy hatched outside the state. Police had to resort to firing to quell the agitators and the firing claimed two lives and left several injured.
