Ranchi, Aug 14: A seminar-cum-swastivachan programme was organised by the Sanskrit Sahitya Parishad and the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University on the occasion of Sanskrit week on Sunday.
While addressing the audience, chief guest Dr. Shailesh Kumar Mishra, a senior teacher of Government Sanskrit College, Ranchi, said that to be away from Sanskrit is to be away from one’s own culture. “Today, when the occult culture is dominating us, in such a situation, Sanskrit becomes even more relevant. The culture of India is a divine culture inspired by vast cultural consciousness,” Dr Mishra added.
He further said that to assimilate the divine sanskars contained in Indian culture, people have to follow the path of Sanskrit. “The divine rites of Indian culture reside in the heights of character. Height of character can make us Rama, can give us the brotherhood of Bharata, can give the status of Sita and Anasuya. On the other hand, having a corrupt character and impermanence can make us look like Ravana. Time today needs us to return to our culture, follow the path of Sanskrit, make life joyful,” he added.
Presiding over the programme, Departmental President Dr. Dhananjay Vasudev Dwivedi said that Sanskrit language is eternal. He further added that this language has been in power since the beginning of creation. It is a world language because its direct or indirect effect on many languages of the world is visible. “Sanskrit is the language of the gods. Just as everyone has the right over the gods, in the same way everyone has the right over Sanskrit. Sanskrit literature is very rich,” he added.
Dr. Dwivedi further said that the framers of the constitution knew, understood and accepted the importance of Sanskrit. Many members of the Constituent Assembly believed that Sanskrit was the only language that could bind the whole of India in the thread of linguistic unity. Sanskritised Hindi can be easily understood in the rest of India.
He added that since Sanskrit is a Sanatan language, it is capable of fulfilling the needs of modern times as well. “Our rich knowledge is embedded in Sanskrit. Sanskrit is the basis of Indian culture in which the spirit of mutual harmony and universal welfare is emphasized. Sanskrit is the language that binds India in the thread of unity. There is a great need for the preservation, promotion, promotion and promotion of Sanskrit language for the sake of all round development from India,” he stated.
Professor Rahul Kumar, Professor of Sanskrit Department of Marwari College, present as the guest of honour said that Sanskrit has been the language of knowledge and science since ancient times. Just as Sanskrit talks about religion, philosophy, ethics, spirituality, policy and culture, in the same way, material related to modern science like chemistry, physics, zoology, mathematics, Ayurveda, geoscience, rain science etc. is available in abundance. If research is done on these scientific facts embodied in Sanskrit, then surely the country will make a place in the category of world’s leading countries in the field of technology.
Jagdamba Prasad Singh said that Sanskrit is not only a language but also the stepping stone for the progress of the nation. As much as the antiquity of this language is, so is its modernity. While the Vedic literature presents evidence of the antiquity of Sanskrit language, on the other hand, modern Sanskrit literature, along with the present education, society and culture, is aware of various human values.
He further said that all the students who have passed graduation and post graduation should try to cross the steps of achieving their goals with discipline and positive thinking by setting their goals. He reminded the students that success does not come in a day but it definitely comes in a day.
