New Delhi, Aug 23: The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered transfer of alleged ‘conman’ Sukesh Chandrashekhar and his wife from Tihar jail to the city’s Mandoli jail.
On a petition filed by Sukesh Chandrashekhar and his wife, who claimed that their lives were in danger and asked to be transferred to a prison outside of Delhi, a bench of Justices SR Bhat and Sudhanshu Dhulia issued the ruling.
Due to allegations of extortion, money laundering, and defrauding numerous people, Sukesh Chandrashekhar was sentenced to prison.
“Having considered the materials on the record and also having regard to the order made on June 17, 2022, this court is of the opinion that in terms of the statement made by the respondent on June 23, 2022, the petitioners should be shifted to Mandoli jail. It is accordingly ordered,” said the bench.
The apex court said the petitioners be shifted to Mandoli jail within a week.
