Ramgarh, Aug 23: The district sports officer Rupa Rani Tirkey was felicitated today by the Jharkhand Development Trust and Ramgarh Cricket Association for winning gold in Lawn Bowls team event during the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022.
The chief guest of the program, Ramgarh Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey, honoured Rupa Rani Tirkey with a shawl and memento. On this occasion, senior athlete Jaspal Mangal Kishori, a medalist in the shot put event in many national and international sports, and coach Anand Gope, who has prepared many international players in football, was also honoured with a shawl.
All the 13 successful candidates of Ramgarh district in JPSC were also honoured with Radhakishan Memorial Award.
On this occasion, Tirkey told the story of winning the gold medal after losing her very first match in Birmingham. The Chief Guest described the achievement of Rupa Rani Tirkey as incomparable for the country, Jharkhand and Ramgarh and hoped that her achievement would inspire the youth, especially girls and people working in government service to join sports.
SP Pandey called upon the successful candidates of JPSC to work with dedication in the development of Jharkhand and take it to new heights.
The program was presided over by Ashok Jain, President, Ramgarh Cricket Association and conducted by Basant Hetamsaria, President, Jharkhand Development Trust.
