Ranchi, Aug. 30: Amid suspense over Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais’ move to disqualify Chief Minister Hemant Soren following the Election Commission opinion over the office-of-profit case, the UPA MLAs are being shifted to Chhattisgarh.
An UPA MLA, confirming the decision, said that there are two Congress- ruled states in the country- Rajasthan and Chhattishgarh. We have assembled at the CM house. Let us see where do we go now,” he quipped.
Earlier, they were set to be shifted to Rajasthan but an airport official confided that the Indian National Congress has booked an Indigo flight. It is coming from Kolkata at 2.30 pm and leave for Raipur around 3 pm, he added.
According to sources, the UPA leadership has found a few Congress MLAs are in touch with the BJP leaders and said to be vulnerable. “A few of them were also incommunicado yesterday. So, the leadership wanted to shift them to a safer place to keep them intact,” sources said.
Sources further said that a few of the JMM MLAs will also be accompanying the Congress MLAs as the latter were not ready to go out of Jharkhand alone.
