Ranchi POCSO court sends three to jail till death for gangrape

Ranchi, Sept 8: Special Judge of POCSO Asif Iqbal today sentenced three youths convicted for gangrape on September 3, till their last breath.

The three convicts include Sanjay Oraon (22), Sanjay Mahali (29) and Raju Oraon (26). They are residents of Semra village under Bedo police station area.

Along with jail till last breath, a fine of Rs 10,000 has also been imposed on each of them.

The case arose after a minor girl returning to home at 11.30 pm on May 17, 2019, after attending a wedding ceremony along with her sister was raped and an FIR was registered against them after three days on the statement of the victim.

Sanjay Oraon had committed rape while Sanjay Mahli and Raju Oraon supported him to commit rape. The victim’s younger sister had managed to escape.

After the FIR, on June 1, 2019, the accused were arrested and sent to jail. Since then all the accused are continuously in jail.

There were other three accused in the case. They included Amar Mahali, Sukhdev Oraon and Suraj Chik Badaik. They were also convicted on September 3.

The severe punishment could be possible after additional public prosecutor Mohan Kumar produced as many as seven witnesses during trial.
