BJP demands cancellation of RIMS Nurses’ recruitment for denying priority to Covid warriors

Ranchi, Sept.14: BJP legislature party chief Babulal Marandi today demanded cancellation of the JSSC results released for appointment of category-A nurses at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) .

He has raised the demand by writing a letter to state health minister Banna Gupta.

The reason, which he has cited for his demand to cancel the result, is the JSSC’s act of not giving priority in selection to those nurses who extended their service during Covid-19 taking life risk and played their proactive role in saving lives of people during the pandemic.

Marandi took the action after he was made aware of the situation through a letter written by a section of RIMS nurses.

“You are aware that during the Covid pandemic, dozens of girl students passed out from Nursing College and Nursing School of RIMS were appointed on contract by the RIMS Management on a monthly honorarium of Rs 10,000/-, and with great dedication and hard work, they served the patients. In view of the hard work and dedication of these people, these qualified students, you and the Director of RIMS had also assured them of permanent appointment in RIMS but they were not given priority in the appointment,“Marandi’s letter to Banna Gupta reads.

“Even the attendants working on contract in RIMS were not given priority in the recruitment process by the JSSC. I would like to inform you that in other states, priority is being given to the State Nursing Council in the recruitment to the post of category ‘A’ nurses, but has been denied in the recruitment rules of Jharkhand. Even the weightage of 25 marks for experience has also been deleted from the manual. This has been mentioned in detail in the given memorandum. I would like to inform one more important fact that almost all the qualified nursing girls serving in the Covid period come from the Scheduled Tribes category of the state. Here information has been issued for Certificate Verification of successful candidates in the results published by the JSSC. In such a situation, there is a demand of these nursing attendants that after canceling the result, the examination should be conducted again so that they are not deprived of natural justice,” the letter further reads.
