MANOJ SINHA
Ramgarh, Sept 16: Divyang Mithilesh Mehta, a farmer of Hazaribagh, had to face the tragedy after buying a tractor with the loan money from a private finance company as his 27-year-old daughter Monica was crushed to death by the company’s recovery agents with the same tractor. It is said that Monica was three months pregnant. The heinous incident took place on Thursday in Hazaribagh’s Ichak.
According to the information, the recovery agents had come to confiscate the tractor over the delay in loan instalment. After a dispute over the dues, they started taking away the tractor forcibly. When Mithilesh’s daughter went to stop them, she was crushed by the same tractor.
Mithilesh said that he had bought the tractor by taking a loan from Mahindra Finance. Two days ago, a message came from the company that the outstanding instalment of Rs 1,20,000 should be deposited soon. But Mithilesh could not do that on the scheduled date.
On Thursday, the tractor was standing at the petrol pump. Four people arrived in a car and one of them started the tractor and drove it away. A petrol pump worker informed Mithilesh about it after which he left the house along with Monika with the due amount. He saw his tractor near Bariath and stopped the driver. The car driving behind the tractor also stopped and a person got out and asked him to reach the office with Rs 1,30,000.
Mithilesh asked the person’s identity on which he introduced himself as the zonal manager of Mahindra Finance. When Mithilesh asked him for proof, the man got furious and signalled to start the tractor. When Monica stopped the vehicle, the driver proceeded to crush her. She died while being brought to RIMS for treatment. Her postmortem was conducted late in the evening.
