Balochistan, Sept 26: The military reported on Monday that six Pakistani personnel were killed in a helicopter crash in southwest Pakistan, the country’s second fatal helicopter accident in over a month.
Near Khost, a small town in the Balochistan province that borders Afghanistan and Iran, the chopper crashed.
“A helicopter on a flying mission crashed late last night. Six personnel — including two army majors (both pilots) embraced shahadat(martyrdom) in the crash,” the military said in a statement.
Regarding the reason for the crash or the kind of aircraft, no further information was provided. There hasn’t been any recent flooding in the region where the chopper landed.
Early in August, a helicopter carrying six Pakistani service members crashed while carrying out flood relief operations in Balochistan, killing one of the army’s senior commanders.
Pakistan has experienced terrible flooding this year, especially in the regions of Sindh and Baluchistan. 323 of the more than 1,600 fatalities occurred in Balochistan.
