New Delhi, Oct 12: A day after Russia launched missiles into Ukrainian cities, the G7 countries virtually gathered to ‘hold Putin accountable’ for his country’s most recent actions, which the UN condemned as war crimes.
On Tuesday, the G7 leaders strongly denounced the Russian missile attacks and vowed to supply Ukraine’s urgent needs for military hardware. In a joint statement, they declared their commitment to helping Ukraine with its winter preparation requirements.
In order to deter Russia, President Zelenskyy has urged the G7 countries to provide Ukraine with air defence capability. Since the start of the conflict in February, the West has been providing Ukraine with weapons and ammunition.
Russia carried out extensive strikes earlier on Monday on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv and other sites, drawing condemnation from a number of nations. The declaration was made following a meeting between the G7 and the president of the Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which took place against the backdrop of recent missile attacks against cities and infrastructure used by residents in Ukraine, which resulted in the deaths of innocent civilians.
“They cannot and do not give Russia a legitimate basis to change Ukraine`s borders. We call upon all countries to unequivocally reject these violations of international law and demand that Russia ceases all hostilities and immediately, completely, and unconditionally withdraw all of its troops and military equipment from Ukraine,” the statement said.
