Raipur, Oct 20: In the Chhattisgarh district of Kanker on Thursday, security personnel discovered a potent Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that was likely planted by Maoists, according to the police.
Amarnath Sidar, Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP), Antagarh, claimed that a team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) members were out on a search operation when they came across the explosive, also known as a pipe bomb, that was packed inside an iron pipe and weighed 10 kg.
He added that a great tragedy was prevented with the retrieval when the patrolling team discovered the explosive concealed behind bushes along a dirt track to target security officers while cordoning off a forested area.
The explosive was later neutralised by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS).
