Ramgarh, Oct 28: There is panic among the villagers due to the arrival of a herd of wild elephants in various villages of Dulmi block in Ramgarh. A herd of more than two dozen wild elephants reached Hohad village of Dulmi last evening via Masri Dih Sadam of Gola block.

Moreover, the crops were destroyed as the elephants ate and trampled the paddy crop in the fields. When the villagers came to know about this, they reached the spot and started driving away the elephants by making noises.

It is said that elephants moving from there went through the fields of Sikani village towards Chitarpur block. At present, a group of wild elephants have taken shelter in the bushes of Chaudhary Dongri under the Nava Garden due to which there is an atmosphere of panic among the villagers.

The villagers have demanded from the forest department that the herd of wild elephants should be safely removed from this area so that the villagers are not forced to live in the shadow of panic. At the same time, the forest department officials have appealed to the villagers not to go near the elephants or try to tease them until the elephants are driven away.
