Ranchi, Oct 31: The Jharkhand University of Technology (JUT) has begun Incubation Centres with the aim of promoting innovation and start-ups among youth. The Incubation Centres will empower the talent by helping them set up their start-ups. The Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), for this, has contributed Rs 86 lakh to develop the incubation centre. Even the Jindal Group has showcased an interest in the plan.

Explaining this, JUT VC Vijay Pandey said, “We are tying up with several big companies, industries and institutes to ensure that the youth can get good employment opportunities in Jharkhand itself. Also, in collaboration with many big companies, the incubation centre has been established in JUT for skill development among youth. Ordinances and syllabi of various courses have also been prepared for this.”

“JUT Placement, Entrepreneurship and Industry Institute Cooperation Cells have also been established to provide better opportunities to students. If local youth with higher technical education with technical skills are available, several big industries can be established here in Jharkhand itself,” the VC added.

Notably, economically weaker students are to get a chance to prove their talent and worth under one roof. JUT will also provide such students with Rs 5 lakhs to help begin their start-ups. The plans for the incubation cell have begun on the lines of that in BHU. Thus the BHU faculty is also playing an important part in setting up the centre.

Meanwhile, officials have further claimed that the placement cell established by the university will hail 100 per cent placement for the pass-out students. The Admission Placement Awareness Programme is being conducted to make students aware of the placement opportunities at the university.

On the other hand, Registrar Amar Kumar Choudhary said that a Techno Hub is being developed in JUT to provide proper technical education to the children of the tribal class of the state under one roof.

He said that so far six applications have been received for start-ups. As soon as the work starts arrangements will also be made for these applicants to stay on the JUT campus and develop their projects. In lieu of this, no rent will be charged from them as fees for the first six months. After this, an amount of only one and a half thousand rupees will be taken.

The registrar further said that the centre has been started in two phases. First, the youth will come up with their project and implement it with the help of the faculty here. The second will be the youth that will make their mark by developing the already popular project. Both these classes will have equal opportunities here.
