Deoghar, Oct 31: It has been more than six months since the four-member high-level committee was formed by the state government to probe into the ropeway accident at Trikut Pahar in Deoghar. However, the Deoghar Police is yet to receive the technical team’s probe report on the tragic accident.

Talking to Lagatar24.com, the local officer in charge of Mohanpur police station has confirmed that the committee has not submitted its report to them. He added that as police couldn’t investigate the matter on the basis of the technical issues involved, a high-level committee was formed to investigate the matter.

On April 10, 2022, a cable-car collision was reported at Trikut Hill in Deoghar. At least three people were killed and others were injured. Helicopters and the army were called for rescue and around 38 people were rescued.

The ropeway manager and other employees, staffed by a private company, fled the spot after the incident, PTI reported. Two people who had jumped were seriously injured, it said.

Manjunath Bhajantri, the deputy commissioner for Deoghar, stated that a team from the NDRF was dispatched to the area for the rescue operation. The operation also had the aid of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

On April 19, the Jharkhand government constituted a four-member high-level committee to probe into the ropeway accident at Trikut Pahar in Deoghar earlier this month. It was led by the principal secretary of finance, Ajoy Kumar Singh while the secretary of tourism and disaster management, Amitabh Kaushal was its member along with a member to be nominated by National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation and IIT (ISM).

The Jharkhand High Court, which on April 12 had taken suo moto cognizance in the matter of the Trikut Ropeway tragedy, directed the state government on April 25 to submit a report of BIT Mesra and Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research (CIMFR) in the matter before deferring the hearing till May 6.

Talking to Lagatar24.com, the secretary of the Department of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sports & Youth Affairs Manoj Kumar informed that the department is yet to receive the report from the committee. He added that the committee would be sending them the reports in a short span of time.
