Ranchi, Nov 1: Miscreants have tried to extort builder Roshan Sharma, a resident of Argora police station area of the district.

As per information, Rs 1 crore has been demanded as extortion and the miscreant who made the extortion call identified himself as an aide of gangster Akhilesh Singh.

The builder lodged an FIR in this connection at the Argora police station on Monday. The FIR names Akhilesh Singh and Amlesh Singh.

Officer-in-charge of Argora police station Vinod Kumar confirmed that the FIR has been registered. He, however, expressed his inability to give further details on the matter.

“The manner of the extortion call has raised doubts over the genuity of the caller. However, the matter is under investigation and it will take two to three days for proper verification and necessary action,” OC Kumar said.

According to the FIR, the builder received the call on October 25 when Sharma was talking to his partner Ashutosh Giri. The caller identified himself as Roshan Pathak, an aide of gangster Singh, and threatened dire consequences in case of non-payment of the extortion amount.
