IIT ISM signs MoU with VV Giri National Labour Institute for academic research

Dhanbad, Nov 2: IIT  Indian School of Mines (ISM) has signed MoU with VV Giri National Labour Institute, Noida for academic exchange and collaborative research on labour and  employment issues.

VV Giri National Institute of Labour and Employment is an autonomous body under the ministry of Labour and Employment. It is a national level institute, exclusively dedicated to research, training, education and publication of wide range of issues with regard to labour and related subjects.

In this regard  IIT ISM  director  Prof Rajiv Shekhar  and VV Giri National Labour Institute director general (DG) Amit Nirma  signed on the MoU . On the occasion, Otojit Kshetrimayum of Institute and Prof Ajit Kumar, assistant professor of Mechanical Engineering cum Coordinator, Innovation, and Office of Dean (IIE) were also present.

Prof Rajiv Shekhar said that under the MoU cooperative social research projects will be carried out jointly by both the institutes. The MoU will also felicitate undertaking of joint collaborative research, organising seminars & workshops, co supervision of research scholars, exchange of faculties, conducting collaborative educational programmes and also sharing of library resources.

“The two collaborating institutes will also highlight and disseminate the prospects and challenges of various labour and employment issues in the county in general and northeast in particular by organizing seminars and workshops” said the IIT ISM Director to media persons

Prof Ajit Kumar, assistant professor of Mechanical Engineering cum Coordinator, Innovation while elaborating about the activities to be carried out as per the MoU by both the institutes said, “Agreement will also provide the facility of co supervision of research which means  facilities  of  co supervision of research scholar of one party by the faculty of other party on case to case basis”

“The provision of MoU also calls for the facility of internship of students of both the institutes in each other institutes” said  Prof Kumar.
He said the relationship between both the institutes will be strengthened as for purpose of developing specific cooperative projects and programmes. There will be personal visit and exchange programme of faculties at each other institutes.

Collaborative educational programmes in the field of labour education will also be launched by both the institutions after jointly working out the modalities. This apart, the library resources of both the institutions will also be shared by working out the modalities. Prof Sagar Pal, Dean (R &D) of IIT ISM was also present during the signing of MoU.
